VR (Virtual Reality) Panoramas
VR panoramas are interactive panoramic images which present a seamless 360 degree environment to your audience. The visual experience for the audience is both informative captivating.
A number of VR panoramas can be integrated into a complete Virtual Tour package with potential for a custom visual layout including maps with "hot spots" which can be clicked to provide navigation from one scene to another.
VR PANORAMA TYPES
Spherical - Cylindrical
Java VR and QuickTime VR panoramas can present either a full spherical environment or a cylindrical view. With the spherical image the audience can look in any direction including overhead and directly below the camera position. The cylindrical image does not see directly overhead or below the camera possition.
Partial panoramas
It is possible to use VR technology to move around and zoom in and out of a normal photograph or partial panorama which is less than 360 degrees.
Java VR
This is the most widely used format for interactive VR panoramas. All popular Web browsers are designed to automatically play back Java content. The main disadvantage is the poorer performance when showing larger higher resolution images. Sometimes panning can become "sticky" on some platforms.
QuickTime VR
This is a high performance format which can handle higher resolution files for full screen presentations much better than Java. All Macintosh computers have QuickTime installed while Windows PC computers may need to have this additional free software downloaded from the Apple website. You will need QuickTime to view the QTVR examples in this website.
Virtual Tours
These are presentations containing multiple VR panoramas inter-linked to provide travel from one scene to another. There are numerous ways of achieving this such as "hotspots" on a map, or on each panorama, or via standard http links.
Virtual Tours can be produced for either Java, QuickTime or Flash.
Panoramic Photographs
Full 360 degree views or partial panoramas can be used in printed media such as magazines and large format printing. High resolution CMYK image files are provided, these can be 100- 200Mb or larger if required.
Panorama photography, panoramic photographs or panoramic pictures can be used to present panorama holidays also known as photo panoramic virtual tours, which can provide the viewer with an immersive experience of any scene.
